HIMpact image 2 (2)HIMpact is more of a vision than a reality at this point.  Our desire is to find ways to have ongoing contact and relationship with the kids that we meet at sports camp.  The more contact and relationship we have with children from camp, we will have a more meaningful impact upon their lives and on their lives of their families and communities.

Our theme verse for this program is Matthew 5:16 Make your light shine, so that others will see the good that you do and will praise your Father in heaven.

What we want to accomplish

Hope Proverbs 23:17&18 Don’t be jealous of sinners, but always honor the Lord.  Then you will truly have hope for the future.

Instructions Proverbs 10:17 Accept correction, and you will find life; reject correction, and you will miss the road.

Mentoring Psalm 145:4 Each generation will announce to the next your wonderful and powerful deeds. Proverbs 22:6 Teach your children right from wrong, and when they are grown they will still do right.

Purpose Jeremiah 29:11 I will bless you with a future filled with hope—a future of success, not of suffering.

Accomplishments 1 Corinthians 9:24-25  You know that many runners enter a race, and only one of them wins the prize. So run to win!  Athletes work hard to win a crown that cannot last, but we do it for a crown that will last forever.

Christ Philippians 4:19 I pray that God will take care of all your needs with the wonderful blessings that come from Christ Jesus!

Training 1 Timothy 4:8 As the saying goes, “Exercise is good for your body, but religion helps you in every way.

Program Components

We are planning on using 2 avenues to reach these children and their families.  We realize that for there to be a lasting impact on these children lives, that the environments they live in, must be ones that honor God.

1) Our first program component will be to conduct monthly home visits with the participants and their families.  These home visits will accomplish the following a) check on the young people b) encourage them to do well in school and other areas of their lives c) build a relationship with the young peoples’ families d) gather prayer requests and pray with the families, and e) be a resource to the family when they face times of challenge.

2) Our second component will be to conduct quarterly neighborhood HIMpact groups.  The children from the same neighborhood and or zip code will participate in this program.  We are hoping to have some of the neighborhood churches partner with us.  At these groups, the participants will be divided into groups by age, and will do the following a) Bible lessons, b) art & craft activity c) life lesson d) learn about their community e) time of praise and worship and f) receive a snack or meal.
